We have been using the Studies Weekly for the past few years and are very happy with the content. We love that it lines up with Florida State Standards and enriches our current Social Studies curriculum. Even though Christian values are not explicitly stated, we have found it easy to integrate our faith with the content during the teaching process. It is nice to have an instrument that upholds our American and patriotic ideals in a way that is interesting and eye catching for our first graders. Several of the issues directly incorporate places unique to our state of Florida. The children are excited to see familiar locations in their own Studies Weekly, too.

The Studies Weekly can also stand alone as a Social Studies curriculum for first grade. It comes with a teacher guide that has many ideas for teaching that lesson’s theme as well as extension of the topics presented. Cross-curricular ideas are given in art and literature, for example.

I believe home schooling families will also welcome this addition to their Social Studies curriculum.

We have enjoyed using the Studies Weekly Science and Social Studies publications in our first grade classroom this year. The children look forward to reading them together. They are great to encourage class participation. They are colorful and the material is fun and interesting. I think they would be a good resource for those who homeschool their children.

I received a letter in the mail today asking if I thought Stuides Weekly would be useful for homeschoolers. Definitely! I am familiar with Circle Christian School in Orlando, FL which is a homeschooling organization for students in Orange, Seminole, and Lake Counties in Florida. They offer a "House" program which students attend one day a week which features a unit study approach. A publication such as this could be very useful.

My students look forward to the Studies Weekly paper each week. They enjoy reading the information which is at an appropriate reading level for them and they are challenged by the activities on the back page. We are anxious to add the science paper next year.

I enjoy using FSW in my classroom. I use it with my American history curriculum. When I cover a unit in my history book, I use the corresponding FSW to incorporate the Florida history. I think it would prove invaluable to a homeschooler. They could use it with their own history curriculum or by itself as a Florida unit.

I received your letter today asking for my opinion about marketing the Studies Weekly publications to homeschool families. We have enjoyed the publications we have used this year; I haven’t been able to work all of them into my curriculum, but the ones I have used have been excellent.

I almost think those in a homeschool environment would benefit more from the studies, simply because they are not as confined to the curriculum as anyone in a traditional school environment is. The opportunities presented by the publication for discussion and extension studies are endless, and homeschoolers can more easily take advantage of those to their fullest extent.

Thanks and hope you find success in a new market!!

I feel that Virginia Studies Weekly would be a great asset to any school setting, especially home schoolers. I have a very small VA history book and need extra supplements to help in the learning process and have found the newspaper to be one of great help.

I would highly recommend your newspaper to home schoolers.

I have loved every issue of Studies Weekly. My Kindergarten class has benefited from these issues. They have taught them social studies skills and some history lessons that pertain to their South Florida community. It is very hard to get information for Kindergartners that will make sense to them for history and social studies. Homeschool families will find these issues very educational and they will find the content will respect their Christian values.

I have used USA Studies Weekly-Explorers to the 1880s for the past three years in my fifth grade classroom to supplement our Social Studies textbook. I have found it helpful for students to read these newspapers as they tend to give additional information not found in our textbook regarding the topics we are studying and also serve as a reinforcement and review of what has been read in our textbook. The newspapers include comprehension, mapping and graphing activities which correlate with the Arizona Academic Standards and which provide students the opportunity to practice reading comprehension skills of non-fiction text as they respond to these questions. I would recommend the use of USA Studies Weekly for classrooms and homeschoolers as a supplement to a solid Social Studies curriculum.

As a Christian school educator, I have enjoyed using the "NC Weekly" in my classroom. I have found it to be a nice supplement to our history curriculum and a great resource for our year-long NC notebook project. The kids enjoyed reading many of the articles and trying out the crafts at home.

However, as with any outside curriculum, I carefully screened the articles before teaching them to the class. If I found any article that brought into question anything contrary to our beliefs, I chose to explain why it was in contradiction. This provided an opportunity for the children to learn how to evaluate sources from a Biblical point of view. This is one of our goals as Christian educators.
Overall I have been very pleased with the publication and will continue to recommend it to my colleagues.

You had written a letter asking if we thought your publication would be good for homeschoolers. We decided to use Studies Weekly instead of another publication we had been receiving because it met the standards for NC in Social Studies. We felt that was very important and weren't sure we were meeting the standards otherwise. Thank you for having a quality publication that meets all the standards. Yes, we think it would be very beneficial for homeschoolers. Each issue is full of good information. The teacher supplement is full of ideas in vocabulary development, book studies, and integration of Social Studies with the other subjects.

I am responding to your letter asking if I thought Texas Studies Weekly would be valuable in the home school market. Yes, I think parents who home school would benefit from using your publication. It is easy to use, adaptable to different settings, and presents historical events in a way that interests students. All of the character sketches could lead into biography studies, etc.
